You DOO have Egg Nog Dude

Online grocery shopping has become my favourite thing!

This morning, I sat down at the kitchen table, went into my PC App and they had a “previously ordered” screen ready for me to click away. I sipped my hot coffee and was done within 10 minutes- can you believe it?

Online ordering is great when you have drop offs, pick ups, swimming etc- because you can choose the time slot that works for pick up. Do it in between all those things and you don’t spend 2 hours in the Superstore with your kids scratching and hitting each other in the front of the cart making the perfect scene for judgements from other perfect parents.

Let me rant a bit though… the man on the phone told me they had no egg nog in the store yet so he didn’t put it in my order. And there were a couple of key items missing. Like my herbs and tortillas for tonight’s dinner. Also… I ordered sensodyne toothpaste and got a teeny tiny, travel tube instead.

So I had to park the car in the family spot and haul the kids into the store ANYWAYS (at least it wasn’t a full load). As I’m strolling the isles, several shelves of egg nog cartons were in plain sight and up for grabs. Thank GOODNESS I went in. I only get egg nog for 1 month out of the year, so this is crucial.

I’m such a nerd writing a post about eggnog, but this is the way my life goes now. It’s the little things that excite me. I am also feeling super inspired to write because I’ve been feeling really good lately. I also feel like my motherhood role has set its foundation. I currently have a good flow with the kids, their activities and personalities and couldn’t think of anything else I would rather be doing. These early days are gone too fast.

I say this now because I’ve been going to the gym almost everyday for a month and my mind feels clear and my life is more balanced. The kids are also getting into an awesome independent state. Yes, they fight constantly- it kills me. But the new Steve Nash Fitness Center has childminding and the kids love going! It’s given me 1 hour of uninterrupted “sweat/me” time. I am not distracting myself with other duties to be done at home. I have physically left the house to do the workouts and I feel amazing and focused.

At first, I was a bit intimidated being in the main part with all of the big boys, but I’ve been pushing myself on new weight machines and techniques. I used to despise working out my legs, but now I really enjoy it and have found that a persons entire stability relies on the strength of their legs. The tree trunks. I’ve YouTubed proper techniques and workouts and I feel a bit more confident heading into my sessions.

This morning was a bit of a whirlwind, but I got everything done. Money in the right accounts, birthday parties planned, Frozen II tickets booked, gym session (yessss), Bethany preschool pick up/drop off, stop at the local Meat Craft, pick up groceries- PHEW! This was all done before noon and I’ve amazed myself. Dinner is out, ready to be prepped and then swimming lessons for Dot at 4pm.

For a while now, I’ve been getting enough groceries, meal prepping for the week and it’s been a life saver! I feel it frees me up more during my days and afternoons so I actually get a break when the kids nap. I would love tips from anyone else who does the weekly meal preps !

Kids are napping now, so it’s snack time for me x
