Sometimes your fears are hiding your greatest passion! What are you afraid of? It could be commitment to a job or relationship, airplanes, spicey food, alligators or Teletoon! This little line of wisdom came into my head one night when I was in my little West Coast home, laying in bed alone, in the dark. I feel that those are the times when I really connect with God. I talk to him in the silence starring up at the blank ceiling. He searches my heart and soul and asks me to pour it out. Be honest. What are you afraid of Sarah?
Berry woke up at 3:30 am and was acting weird and restless. I thought I should just let her out for a minute so she can sort herself out. In my haze of dreamland and reality, I turned the outside light on. Since I am living in the woods of the wild, I did a scope to make sure there were no intruders outside. I opened my door and realized my garbage can was knocked over and the garbage bag was no where to be found and I wasn’t about to go searching for it. All of a sudden a bush rustle 6 ft away from me startled me and I jumped inside and slammed the door. In the morning I realized it was a black bear. Pooh has been living in this area and visiting me for a couple weeks so I’ve had to lock the garbage inside the laundry room.
The “Entering, Leaving and Evacuation Route Tsunami zone” signs are all over the Pacific Rim Highway which is where my home is located. The Storm clouds roll in and drops the size of grapes hit my windshield. Wipers are at full speed and aren’t doing the efficient job of their design. My chest tightens and I sigh. As I take the curve in the road, a peak of the stormy sea cracks through the trees and I forget why I was anxious and then it all becomes clear. What are you afraid of Sarah?
Mark 6:47-51 Late that night, the disciples were in their boat in the middle of the lake, and Jesus was alone on land. He saw that they were in serious trouble, rowing hard and struggling against the wind and waves. About three o’clock in the morning Jesus came toward them, but when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, thinking he was a ghost. They were all terrified when they saw him. But Jesus spoke to them at once. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “Take courage! I am here!” Then he climbed into the boat, and the wind stopped…..
He reminds me about passion. Serving Him in my passion. Living out my faith. The people I relate to. The people He created to love and play in His Creation. His power. His strength. The vision He gave me. The heart for His people He gave me. And then… the storm, the fog, the wild, the rain and the dark becomes beautiful and I am thankful for it.
If there was never another Sunrise… I will serve Him.
Good read Sarah! Thanks for it.
