What a great opportunity I have to work at the surf.skate.snow shop in Nanaimo! On my first day, the Oneil sub rep for Vancouver Island walked in and I have several meetings with reps like Burton Snowboards for product knowledge. I LOVE MY JOB! It’s just a great privilege to meet these people.  I am still trying to chase my dreams and visions that God gave me during my time in Jeffrey’s Bay. I know that I could get a job really easily back in a restaurant, I’m really good at it!! BUT… I’m trying to stay focused. I love surfing and I want to share that passion with others. I love the feeling of being in the water even if the cold, stormy sea is pelting me in the face. Even though I am restricted with 5 mm of rubber around my head, body, hands and feet, the ocean revives me. I admire the little seals that pop up every once in a while to say hello. They don’t have it easy living in these waters.

The reason for the title in my blog “Tall Trees//Cold Seas” is because of my inspiring friend Josh Patience and the RSDK crew who has come up with this awesome West Coast apparel. No one knows what RSDK stands for and he won’t tell us, which is all part of the fun! The logo’s on the shirts and hats describe these frigid waters and epic scenery’s in 2-4 words. It really makes me proud to be a Canadian. (Thanks for the shirts by the way :)) The search for waves doesn’t come easy here. It’s such a mission, but Jeffrey’s Bay planted this in my heart permanently. It doesn’t matter what price I pay to get in the water, I will. The long drives, thick wet suits, cold seas, furious wind and hectic rips. The one thing that I’m missing is the girls that got out there with me. We are now all surfing different breaks and I’m sure thinking about each other in the line ups.

I am the clay, and He is the potter. I’m feeling the shift. He is molding me more and more into being who He needs and created me to be. I’m still learning so much from Him and thirst for His love and ways daily! Even though sometimes I don’t get into His word every day, I am confident that He loves me deeper than I can imagine. He reveals himself to me through the sunrise, a burning candle or a smile or emotion that I feel during my day. Something that I read in the bible the other day stood out to me more than it ever has before. I have read the story of Jesus’ crucifixion 1,000X1,000 times. After Jesus was crucified, the sky became dark and the curtain was torn. The prisoner went to paradise with him and Jesus’ body was buried. 3 days later He rose, and a few went to see this miracle including Peter in his excitement. Now, what stood out to me is the 2 men walking to the village of Emmaus in sorrow because of what happened. Jesus appeared and asked why they were sad but God kept them from recognizing Him. The 3 of them carried on their journey for a while STILL not knowing that they were speaking to Jesus. As they were nearing the end of their journey, Jesus acted as if he was carrying on his travels, but the 2 men begged him to stay with them for dinner. Jesus joined them for dinner, broke bread with them and suddenly their eyes were OPENED but He disappeared just as the recognized Him. They realized it was Jesus the whole time. He walked with them the entire journey in their sorrow.
Are you recognizing Jesus in your life at the moment? Oh how I love this man. The Messiah! His character is a good friend, but the Saviour of the world at the same time. He lowered himself to my standard to show me His love.

Look around, where is He in your journey today? Just know that He is walking with you.
